RCYCL is a service to enable a circular economy through multiple partners - retail partners, freight partners and back end pathway partners.

We accept all items to collect data and then send to our trusted and vetted partners.

At our data collection hub, we track and trace all items that filter through our internal system. We see our responsibility as being able to understand what is being discarded in Australia, and to utilise this data to help the entire industry fashion a better future.

By using our service, we will enable the best outcome for all of your items. 

This may mean that a redirect may occur from time to time between the wearable and unwearable items based on our assessment.

RCYCL works alongside recyclers, charities and other social enterprise partners to ensure your items go through to the best possible pathway to be processed.

We also work alongside universities, new business initiatives and individuals who see an opportunity to utilise what we intake into their research and existing business models. This may be pilot runs for new recycling machinery, a small amount of material going to a local business looking to test and learn or students looking to understand the future of circular fashion.

RCYCL:

Our partners collect and use 

either chemical or mechanical recycling methods.

Garments are shredded and then turned into new yarn or made into rugs, felt and carpet underlay or cement pellets. We take our responsibility very seriously in whom we direct our items through to. We use local and some offshore partners to process garments so that every item is responsibly managed. 

Australia is at the start of our recycling journey and is still behind in technologies available compared to overseas. RCYCL is constantly searching for new advancements in recycling in which we can tap into. We aim to offer you a growing and ongoing sustainable service over multiple suppliers here and afar. 

We hope that in time, we can manage textile waste better as a nation. It is through initiatives like this that we can prove to policy makers that the time is right to change the way we look at recycling.

REWEAR:

Through our extensive search to find trusted and vetted recycling partners, we realised the charity sector is completely inundated with items that are unsellable. These items cost a huge amount of money to sort and process via each charity organisation. 

The aim of the REWEAR program is to reduce the unwearable items that are currently distributed through donations in this country. 

Organisations can then focus on important tasks and not spend valuable time sorting through items that cannot be resold.

Why use REWEAR?

REWEAR was born from the data showing that a bag of donations sit in your car for months at a time, sometimes not even making it to the charity but going into the bin!

  • ONLY 16.5% of donated goods are resold in Australian charity stores
  • 36% is reprocessed domestically into products like cleaning rags
  • 33% is exported overseas for reuse or downcycling
  • 14% goes to landfill as unwearable waste or gross contamination
  • 0.5% is unaccounted for in research

The best possible outcome for any garment in existence is to be worn again and again until it disintegrates. Garments are assessed through our system and sent to be rehomed responsibly.

REPAIR:

We all know those beautiful pieces that are in need of just a little touch of love to remain in wearable condition. It is the best outcome for any garment purchased to wear it for as long as possible. Whilst it is a cost to send and have this package returned to your front door, it is better than the alternative of remaining broken and unworn. Our repair partner Hello Tailr and their social enterprise partners have the skill and method required to fix your precious items and restore them to their best, once again.

RESELL: 

Everyone has items that they would like to make some money on - it does not fit in the donate pile, it does not need to be repaired and it definitely has some life still in it. As an invite only service offer, cleansing your wardrobe is as easy as ever to resell everything left over from your closet cleanout (RCYCL, REWEAR and REPAIR) so someone else can celebrate what you no longer need.
